Mchezo means toys in Swahilii.  These baskets look perfect in a nursery or playroom but can also house other household items to elevate your space.   

These functional baskets are woven by women in the remote Ngara region of Tanzania. There are over 600 artisans spread out in different regions weaving baskets to earn a sustainable and dignified income for their families.

Materials

Locally grown grass and upcycled grain sacks weaved around a metal frame.

Beautiful and practical!

I recently purchased 3 of these baskets for my entryway table and they are even more beautiful in person! They’re very large and sturdy and hide away all the things my kids need day-to-day (i.e. face masks, dance bags, backpacks, shin guards, sunscreen,…). I love the minimalistic design of these baskets that goes with everything. Definitely recommend!
