Hello, my name is Helen Han Park and I am the founder of Ukili.
Ukili is a Swahili word and refers to the type of natural material used to make the handmade baskets we carry. I first saw it on the beautiful island of Zanzibar off the coast of Tanzania.
As a mom, I wanted Ukili to be a brand where we support the idea of one's desire to provide and care for one's own family. We hope to be a bridge for women who do not have the opportunity or access to meet this basic need.
At Ukili we aim to provide sustainable and dignified income to artisans, prioritizing women, in rural regions of Africa and abroad.
